Grace was a very special toddler.  It might have been the creative environment she lived in, it might have been her vivid  imagination, and it might just be one of those unexplainable moments when something bigger and greater than who we are makes itself known to us. We are believers. We resonate a bit differently from our neighbors, and are open to divine intervention and mystical experiences. The Faerie Realms have always been as real to us as Manhattan.  We believe that it was because in our household we honored the Faeries in all that we did, that they bestowed the Blessing of Kubiando into our lives.

The Graceful Fairy was a just wee fae when the Faeries gifted her with a magic word…… Grace spoke in a mixture of strange and mysterious sounds with a spattering of human tongue. We often wondered if she was channeling Elvish.  At two years old she was a pure vessel of inspiration.

One day, her mother, Sweet Pea Faerie, and her Aunt  Histabell Fairy, found themselves in a magical dilemma.  They were tasked to visit with the Children of the Earth and transform them into Planet Earth Helpers.  They practiced and practiced  all the  wonderful poems and dances they had learned  from the Fey.  But.....They were missing a magic word !   It was a mythical quandary.  They didn’t want to borrow from the old favorites…..Abracadabra or Bippity Boppity Boo. So they put on their Thinking Crowns and tried to come up with something suitably enchanting.    They pondered and thought and Histabell whined… and then they pondered some more, but their very own special spellbinding word alluded them….. And they believed that the Faeries would gift  it to them, if only they had the power to tune their ears to the right frequency in order to clearly hear......

So Sweet Pea and Histabell went to The Graceful Fairy and asked her to do a special bidding.  They asked her to speak with the Fey, (after all, she was speaking Elvish, wasn’t she? ) and to visit them in her dreams, and to bring back from the faerie realms,  the missing magical word.

Like all little children of light, who are held so close in the hands of Spirit, The Graceful Fairy was gifted  with special listening skills and repeated many messages and insights.  She would translate  them into her language mixed with words of mystery and odd inflections.  She would sing them to the moon and the stars and her furry warm kitten.  She would string feathers and beads together, she would pile up special stones and shells and she would sing her messages and sing her stories and sing her insights to her heart’s content.

Soon after dreaming, she was dancing out the story of Happiness with her Dad, The Rainbow Rider, when it happened….   The Graceful Fairy channeled the missing magical  word!        Kubiando!        She sang “Kubi Kubi Kubi - ando- ando- ando……Kubi-ando- ando Day,    Kubi- ando-,ando-ando,  Kubiando today! “

And all at once, In a flash of light, The Rainbow Rider recognized Kubiando as the magic word that the Fairies sent through Grace to share with the Children of Earth.  With much fanfare and festivities, they thanked the Fey for their offering.  The word filled them with love and joy and all sorts of frolicky feelings.  They wrote stories and songs and poems about the Kubiando blessing.   Some research uncovered that  “Kubi “ - relates to a House Spirit - and the “ando” - relates to Bliss, or Blessing.   The home is where the heart is, and the blessing comes from the heart.  It can also be translated as our home being the earth, and the blessing is our connection to the earth, and the gifts of nature’s bounty.

Since that day, in May of 1990,  the blessings of the Fey come easily  when saying Kubiando. The word has made its way from the East coast to the West Coast, to Italy and Germany and England.  It is a wonderful greeting, a cheer, and a special way to wish a Happy Birthday!   In fact, Kubiando is a sweet thing to say, as a hello or goodbye, and with arms stretched out to the sky..... Kubiando is a magical and loving embrace from the Faeries.

The enchantment of Kubiando has been spread far and wide  through  the Greenman of Spoutwood Farm, and liberally celebrated at the annual Fairie Festivals in Glenn Rock, PA.  A Kubiando banner greets you as you come down the lane into the pastoral beauty of the farmland.  Tens of thousands of Fairy enthusiasts have been introduced to the word through the Spoutwood Farm Community.   Greenman Rob Wood has certainly been an emissary of the word, and an honorary Planet Earth Helper.  His unique delivery of the Kubiando blessing comes from the way he puts his whole body behind the expression, by reaching down to the earth and pulling the magical energy up while saying, breathing and releasing skyward:  “KOOBEEEEANDOOOOOOOO!!!  Sharing the Kubiando Blessing with the Greenman means putting your entire self behind the process, digging deep and giving it all.

The sweet love continues and grows the more it is shared.  Share the blessing…..let the magic word come from your heart and pass your lips.  It is sure to bring a smile and beckon fairies to come hither.

Suzanne is working on putting the story of Kubiando into lyrical verse, a read out loud fun story of adventure.  In an Alice in Wonderland type of tale with a lilting Suess-esque  tone, the story of a little girl’s journey through the Faerie Realms unfolds with colorful imagery and rhyme.  As the reader moves from Gateway to Gateway through the Realms,  life’s insights are gained and lessons are learned.  Here is an excerpt from that work in progress: Click here to read the excerpt>>>

Other works that are Kubiando-centric include the following poem:

Kubiando is a Way of Living

Knowing that the Universe supports you
Understanding Life’s Lessons along the way
Believe in Yourself
Invent new ways of being and be an Inspiration
Always do your Best
Never, never, never, give up
Divine guidance surrounds you
One Love, One Circle of Life
